Now That Summer Is Here . . .

Are you shocked about how fast the years come and go? What were you doing this time last year? And all the changes you experienced in your life since last summer. Are you happy about the differences? Or are you beside yourself, unsure, confused, and still trying to catch your breath?

From what I can tell, so many people have suffered from the past reccession and the results have still caused major hardship for home owners and business.

I have recently received many emails from small roofing company owners asking me if I have any extra work to give to them, to help them make ends meet. My answer was no. Though I would like to help, the fact is, I cannot give work to small roofing companies because small roofing companies might not be around next week or next month, or next year. And it is crucial that a roofing company is around ALL the time – for decades.

I feel bad. I really do. Because I know some good people do good roofing work but, in the end, their small business goes down, by no fault of their own: They simply do not have the experience to run a long-term roofing business. Their financial resources are extremely limited, and their knowledge cannot compete with decades of well-earned roofing experience. In the end, even after they try their best, their business fails, the home owner eventually gets burned. This means you.

The residential roofing business is like no other business. It’s so much more than just banging shingles on a roof.

I can honestly say, my company, Brookside Roofing, started small, and after a couple decades, finally make its mark in the history of Toronto roofing companies. Now one of the top 10 roofing companies in Toronto and endorsed by the CEO of ReMax Canada.

In a perfect world, we would all be happy and properous. There’d be no competition. Live and let live. Everyone would be happy, stressless, and all would be fair. We would all love our neighbour and the concept of money would not exist.

Well, we can always hope. For now, we just have to accept reality.
